Spring Photography Weekend
Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park's Spring
Photography Weekend combines a digital photography contest and evening
photography presentations. This weekend photography professionals will be
Susan & Richard Day of Daybreak Imagery (http://www.daybreakimagery.com/about.html).
The digital contest has three divisions point & shoot, intermediate, and
masters. The weekend ends with an awards ceremony and critique on Sunday
morning. Bring your own camera. Registration for adults is $30 after April 5, or
$25 on or before April 5th. Children 16 and under can compete in the competition
for a reduced fee of $10. 10% discount on lodging available. View

Community Wide Yard Sale
The Hopkinsville-
Christian County Jaycees are hosting a Community Wide Yard Sale on Saturday,
April 12, 2008 from 6AM- NOON. The Yard Sale will be held at the WKSF Convention
Center. Plots available to rent are 15ft by 15ft and include one table. Early
registration is $25 (postmarked by April 5, 2008). Late registration is $30. All

Jeffers Bend Environmental Center - Urban Forestry Workshop
Hosted by Pennyrile RC&D
Council and Jeffers Bend Environmental Center - Presenting Zach French,
arborist, from Nashville TN on:
Tree selection for property enhancement, tree planting, tree pruning, tree
nourishment, and tree maintenance. The workshop cost is $10.00 per person with
$5.00 of that cost to be provided by the Pennyrile RC&D Council. Lunch will be

Adventure Pennyrile Forest
Adventure Pennyrile
Forest offers a naturalist guided hike in 2008. Hike half of the Pennyrile
Nature Trail for a registration fee of $12 per person. Fee includes:
transportation, a bottle of water, snack, and Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park
Patch. Registered participants can get a 10% discount off park lodging. The hike
is in Pennyrile State Forest and Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park and is over
6 miles. The trail rating is difficult.

Pennyrile Forest Resort State Park would like to show our appreciation to our
beloved campers by offering them a rate of two nights camping for the price of
one night. There entertainment on Friday night and a full schedule of programs

Hopkinsville-Christian County Jaycee Texas Hold'em Tournament
The Hopkinsville-Christian
County Jaycee are hosting a Texas Hold'em Tournament that will be held at the
James E. Bruce Convention Center from 4pm to 10pm. Registration will be 1:30pm
to 3:30pm the day of the event. Buy in $100 (cash or checks only), this will get
you $5000 in chips. There are no re-buys. $4000 will be awarded to the first
place finisher. The top ten place will all be awarded cash prizes. Must be 21 to
attend. Proceeds from this event will help support the many community service

Water
Following the
sudden and unexpected death of her husband, a widowed child bride lashes out
against her fate in the Hindu ashram where she is expected to atone for her sins
in this humanistic drama, the third installment of filmmaker Deepa Mehta's
Elemental Trilogy.
This is part of
Hopkinsville Community College's Spring 2008 Film Series.
All films are shown at the HCC
Auditorium and will begin on each show date at 6 p.m., unless otherwise
announced. There is a nominal fee of $2 which covers admission, popcorn, a
post-film discussion and continuing education credit.

Derby Arts Festival
There will be a Derby Arts Festival at Founders
Square in Downtown Hopkinsville from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. There will be
musical performances and juried artists exhibits and demonstrations. There
will also be sidewalk art competitions, pillars of art on display in the park
and painted by area students. Children's Creation Station for free
and fun art activities such as water coloring, collage, origami, sidewalk art.

Memorial Day Weekend
Celebration Pennyrile Forest State
Resort Park will begin offering daily naturalist and recreation activities on
Friday night May 23 with a performance by Brushfire Band Starting at 8PM at the
amphitheater. From Memorial Day to Labor Day enjoy four or more recreation
programs six days a week. Activities include but are not limited to: junior
naturalist programs, guided nature hikes, story telling, campfire programs,
sports activities, and arts and crafts.

Jefferson Davis 200th Birthday Commemoration
This
weekend is the Commemoration of the 200th Birthday of Jefferson Davis. The event
includes Living History Camps, period demonstrations and vendors, special guest
speakers, Davis family members, book signings, period music and many other
respectful and educational events fill this once in a lifetime commemoration

3rd Annual Soapbox Derby
The All-American Soap Box Derby, "The
Greatest Amateur Racing Event in the World," is a youth gravity-racing program
boys and girls ages 8 through 17 years old. The race will take place in
downtown Hopkinsville on Bethel Street.
The goals of the Soap Box Derby program have
not changed since it began in 1934:
to promote families
working together,
to teach children
some basic skills of workmanship along with the spirit of competition,
and the perseverance
to continue a project to completion.

The Old Timey Festival
Come celebrate the history of LaFayette
during our first annual "Old Timey Festival". The event kicks off at 10am with a
parade through downtown. Afterwards there will be a classic car show,
antique tractor show, arts and crafts, historical tours, live music, kids
activities, and more. This event is also in conjunction with the annual tractor
pull held in LaFayette. We're also looking for anyone that is interested in
setting up an arts and crafts booth, and also anyone that is interested in

Kid’s Fishing Derby
Bring your kids to a FREE fun filled morning of fishing at Pennyrile Forest
Resort State Park's Pennyrile Lake. Fish and Wildlife professionals will be on
hand to give expert advice and assist any participants that need help. Loads of
great fishing door prizes will be given away as well as free refreshments for
the kids.

The Christian County Cattleman's Association is hosting its annual rodeo. The rodeo will be held at the West Kentucky Fairgrounds in Hopkinsville, KY. All children must be accompanied by an adult. For ticket information please call the following number.

This special weekend is a couples, country western
dance weekend filled with country-dance lessons & Saturday night showcase dance.

Night Rider Tour
The Pennyroyal Area Museum announces the
24th Annual Night Rider Tour on Saturday, September 20, 2008. Tours will run at
6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. This open-air hayride tour through downtown Hopkinsville
is a reenactment of the Night Rider Tobacco Raid in Hopkinsville which occurred
on December 7, 1907. Tickets will go on sale after Labor Day. Price to be
announced.

Geocaching Weekend
Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park will host their
fourth Geocaching weekend October 3-5. There will be a night cache, find the
most micro caches contest, first-to-find cache, and traditional caches. We
guarantee at least 30 caches to find. $10 per geocacher, $5 if you register by
September 25th. Event participants are eligible for a 10% discount on lodging.

Applefest - Lovell’s Orchard
This is a weekend of free concerts, activities for all ages, carnival rides,
drawn wagon rides, children's tractor pull, and great food! There is also a

Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park's Fall Photography Weekend has gone all
digital. This weekend consists of a contest with point & shoot, intermediate,

Halloween Campout
During this spooky campout all registered campers will receive two nights
camping for the price of one. Non campers are welcome to participate for a
registration fee of $5 per family (by October 26th). A full schedule of
Halloween programs will be available for the weekend.

Our community’s tribute to those who have served in
the military to protect our freedoms. The parade begins at
10:00 a.m. downtown
Hopkinsville. Music, Displays, refreshments & fellowship. Come out and support

Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot
The 7th Annual
Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot will begin at 8:00 a.m. This is a free 5K trot
through Hopkinsville with donations being accepted for the Pennyrile Rail Trail.
Participants in this event should meet in downtown Hopkinsville at Founders
Square Parking Area. In the event of inclement weather, stay home, rest, eat,
and enjoy the time with your family. Refreshments are provided.
